Geotechnical investigation
The well logging is very essential to determine the geological formations of the borehole and aquifer layers of ground. This helps in sealing the salty layers, selection and exact installation of screens in the well and getting more fresh and healthy water from the ground.
The log may be based either on visual inspection of samples brought to the surface called (geological logs) or on physical measurements made by electrical instruments lowered into the hole (geophysical logs). The types of instruments used in well logging are quite broad. The first logging measurements consist of basic electrical logs (resistivity) and spontaneous potential or self potential (SP) logs, introduced by the Schlumberger brothers in the 1920’s.
